Lucky(Nolte) is allowed to sleep with the women he meets, so long as he doesn't get
involved with them. Unfortunately, he falls for Marianne(Boyle), who touches his heart
with her desparate need to have a child. Although he makes love to her like any other
woman he has had, a deep sympathy resonates, threatening his own love for his wife
Phyllis(Christie). Rudolph intersplices the scene with images of Phyllis and Jeffrey(Miller),
revealing a depth of emotions more than
just sexual desire, but also grateful satisfaction between the two lovers.
