Inter-precinct gossip suggests Nick (Douglas) is screwing his psychiatrist Dr. Garner (Tripplehorn), but
it is just talk. Yet after a stressful night of temptations and derogatory remarks by an IA officer,
Nick comes home to Beth's apartment where he rougly undresses her and fondles her to the point of climax.
It is revealed this is not their first time together, but it was certainly different from the times
before. Nick was not himself and Beth could see right through him. As much as she enjoyed it, he could
see she wasn't on his mind. Something else sparked his sexuality and the impact of the realization
propels her into a jealous rage. It seems fairly innocent now, but her love for Nick will become
very important to the plot later on.
