In the first of William's(Cruise) day dreamings, he begins to envision his wife with the sailor,
picturing him rub his hands up and down her naked body, sickening William to the core. It is a
day dream, so the image we are given is colourless and jittery, highlighting the faux nature
of the sexual encounter. Through most of the picture, Cruise exhibits a silent frustration, like
he does in the car as he day dreams. The more he thinks about it, the more he becomes obsessed
with his wife pseudo-infidelity and this is the kind of attitude that leads him into trouble.
